Ah, polki is raw diamond, kundan is the gold setting, and meenakari is the colourful enamel on the back—that’s the book answer. But from my godown in Wankaner, I see the real difference is in the *stone* they’ll use. Everyone wants the shine, but few want the price, so most "kundan" work I supply uses fine Czech glass, not diamond. My life is filling boxes with man-made sparkle for artisans who tell customers it’s the old way.
