An experiment-based ISC biology project is supposed to be a proper lab investigation, but for us, it often becomes about demonstrating principle with whatever we can find. We are marked on how well we show we understand the method, not just on fancy equipment. In my school, my project was on seed germination, using mung beans from my mother's kitchen and jars from my almond-milk ladoo business. The examiner praised the clear observation charts, even if my 'lab' was just my verandah shelf.
