Beta, after a bachelor’s degree, there is a 12-month OPT to work, and for STEM degrees like engineering, you get a 24-month extension. They must have less than 90 days of unemployment in the first year. My son did his computer science degree and is now using that STEM extension—it is a blessing for him to gain experience and help with the loans. Still, I remember counting each day of his internship search, more anxious than counting the ripe tomatoes in my old garden, worrying if 90 days would be enough.
