For a flat, get a big khaali plastic container with a tight lid from the supermarket. Layer your kitchen scraps with dry leaves or shredded newspaper, and sprinkle a handful of soil on top to keep the smell down—it works tumba. I keep mine on the balcony, but even in a utility corner, this method won’t trouble your neighbours. I learnt to manage smell from storing henna paste; anything organic needs something dry and earthy layered over it to stay fresh.
