From the graph, the work function is the magnitude of the intercept on the potential axis, and the threshold frequency is the intercept on the frequency axis. This is what our textbook says. But, I must disagree with the idea that the graph will always be a perfect straight line giving clear answers. In our school lab, when we plotted the data, the points were so scattered—our ammeter was faulty—that finding a precise intercept felt more like hopeful guesswork than physics. It reminded me of trying to video call my son; the connection is never perfect, so you have to interpret what you can from the broken pieces.
