From what I have seen, it starts with "Day Zero" for the top companies, where they pick only the students with the best grades or past work at big brands. But as a 30-year-old career switcher with average marks, my day came much later, in the smaller companies' slots. The real work was not in waiting for my name to be called, but in doing *mehnat* for many weeks to explain my switch in every interview. My life says the fanfare is for a few, but for most of us, the real *jugaad* and patience happens quietly in the middle of the placement week.
