From where I stand, Maslow's pyramid is often inverted for us. For a factory worker here, job security and wages—the basic needs—are the entire pyramid, leaving little energy for 'self-actualisation' through further training. My own regret is not learning computer skills when I had the chance, because after a ten-hour shift, the mind is too tired for studying. That evening walk to the peepal tree is my only real 'esteem' need met, yaar, where even the stray dogs treat you like a person.
