In my first job here, I was given a small desk fan that rattled like an old Ambassador. When the appraisal came, the boss said it was a sign of resilience, keeping cool when things get noisy. I kept that fan twelve years, long after I left. Sometimes a small, steady thing teaches you more than the loud talk in the room.
