In our state, MGNREGA is the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, and on paper it guarantees 100 days of work per family per year. But here, the reality is a constant scramble—I see the demand far outstripping the funds and work we can actually provide. My own desk is buried under applications, and I spend more days explaining delays than sanctioning work. It feels less like a guarantee and more like a tired old drama where we all know the script but the hero never arrives on time.
