It sounds very grand on paper, but in my tier-2 college, the first two years felt like we were being fed only the tough grains of theory—real analysis, abstract algebra—without being shown the 'chutney' of where to apply it. My own struggle was that this 'pure maths' focus left little room for the computing 'kaam' I was eager to do, making it feel disconnected. It builds a strong mind, yes, but for students like me, the joy comes from building things, and that comes much later.
