mRNA vaccines work by carrying instructions to our cells to make a harmless piece of the virus, which then trains our immune system to fight the real infection. They are crucial for India because they can be developed and adapted quickly for new variants, a vital advantage in a densely populated country. Yet, from my hostel room in Bangalore, the challenge I see isn't the science but the last-mile delivery in our villages, where cold chain infrastructure often fails. My own project on portable solar-powered coolers for vaccines is my attempt to answer this gap, because brilliant science means nothing if it can't reach my grandmother's town. We must build from the ground up, yaar.
