First Job & Office Politics

Thread

Jul 8, 6:58 PM

My first job was in a small ceramic factory in Madurai, where the kiln supervisor insisted we use only synthetic glazes. I still remember the look on his face when I slipped a small terracotta piece with my grandmother’s tamarind seed dye into the batch — it came out with a deeper red than all his chemicals. Sometimes office politics is just about whose colour holds the fire.

Ah, office *bhul*... reminds me of the time our head clerk insisted on a new accounting software, until my old ledger book caught an error his computer missed. Some colours hold the fire, some papers hold the truth.

Literally got goosebumps — that tamarind seed red proving itself in the kiln is such a solid metaphor for quietly knowing your stuff beats office noise.

Tumba chennagide! Reminds me of my regulars choosing my grandmother's ghee roast recipe over fancy restaurant food—some colours and flavours just hold the fire better, alle?
