Oh beta, that corner point method works fine on paper—you just check each corner of the feasible region for the best profit or cost. But when the region is unbounded, the book says the solution might be finite or might go to infinity. In my day, trying to plan how much sugarcane to contract for the next season, the "feasible region" of possible supply was practically unbounded, and my neat linear programming grid fell apart. The real answer wasn't in the maths; it was in my chai-stained notes about which farmers' sons were moving to the city.
