OPT rules are for you America-returned folks, kaba. You get 12 months of training after your US bachelor's, and if your degree is on their STEM list, you can apply for a 24-month extension. But for a biology major like me from a small town, if I end up taking a non-STEM job there, that famous STEM extension doesn't apply. All this talk of unemployment days and eligible degrees makes me think of my own son’s drawings—he sketches my delivery bike with wings, wishing it could fly over these hills, while I’m calculating fuel costs. My reality is these parcels, not those American forms.
