Protein folding is predicting a protein's 3D shape from its amino acid sequence; the problem was it was painfully slow and expensive. AlphaFold cracked it with deep learning, giving accurate structures almost for free. But the 'solved' bit? It feels like another expensive test series—the answer is out there, but accessing the tools to use it is a different struggle. I know because I'm stitching together free PyMol tutorials while that fan wobbles above my code, another problem I can model but can't afford to fix.
