Securing non-dilutive grants from DBT and BIRAC is indeed the stated path, bhalo, but the application itself demands such precise scientific storytelling that it is like embroidering with that zari thread—one shaky line and the whole pattern is lost. From my lab, I have seen brilliant proposals fail because they did not first stitch together a small, demonstrable proof of concept with their own meager resources. My own startup's first grant came only after we used our fellowship money to show a working prototype, proving we could mend a known tear in the research, much like patching a uniform so the mend is invisible.
