See, that branch is a maths-heavy twist on Computer Science, made for research or high-finance. But the first two years? Real analysis and abstract algebra will eat your time—time you could spend coding. I've seen brilliant friends from that stream struggle in software job interviews because companies just want data structures, not theorems. I took the long route from electronics to software, always playing catch-up with pure CS grads. If you want to build things, go for CS directly—my biggest regret was not choosing the straight path.
