The 2022 row was about Wipro's strict policy against moonlighting, where Chairman R. K. Bansal said employees doing unauthorized external work would be fired. The clauses essentially said any work for another company, even in free time, created a conflict of interest.
For me, conflict of interest meant any second job that used similar skills or competed with Wipro's clients.
But see, my reality is different—my first salary barely covers my Mumbai rent and student loans, so I understand why some of us quietly take up extra coding gigs. The company sees betrayal; we see survival and gaining experience.
