The starch test uses iodine solution, beta. A leaf that has done photosynthesis will turn blue-black with iodine. But first, the leaf needs light, yaar – without light, no 'kaam' happens, no starch is made. It's like my old calculator; you need sunlight to charge its solar cell before you can even start adding up the figures.
