Well, for us, wind is the main factor, not just temperature or VPD. A hot, still day lets the crop manage, but a dry, scorching *loo* wind will suck the moisture out of the leaves faster than our tubewells can keep up. I’ve seen whole patches of okra wilt in an afternoon because of that wind. So my irrigation schedule listens more to the weather forecast for wind speed than to the thermometer alone.
