Ah, bhai, in my small shop, I sold many of those little machines during the pandemic, thinking they gave people peace of mind. The red light measures haemoglobin that is carrying oxygen, and the infrared light measures haemoglobin that is not. But from my wooden stool, I saw people fixate on that 98% number, feeling safe, while their breath was already becoming shallow—the machine did not measure their struggle, only a misleading percentage. It told a comfortable lie, while their eyes told the true story.
