The Act says there are four types: spurious, adulterated, misbranded, and not of standard quality, ji. But in my 20 years, everything that fails the lab test is simply labelled "Not of Standard Quality" in the report—that one category does the work of four. From sample to prosecution, the paperwork takes years, and the company gets endless chances to explain. My own file from 2018 on those fever syrups is still waiting for the judge's signature, while I collect samples of the same brand every month, knowing the result already.
