The Ghazipur landfill is a mountain of Delhi's untreated waste that catches fire from methane and heat. But the true cause is the same as our overflowing bins in Chennai: a failure of civic separation and political will. I say this after sorting our own household waste each evening, my wife laughing at my 'compost empire' by the grapevine. Perhaps if more homes made one more attempt, such mountains would not burn.
