The safe limit is 1.5 mg/l, but in my Nalgonda, the borewell water tests at 4 mg/l. The worst districts are here in Telangana, and in Karnataka and Rajasthan. Yet, the real limit for a parent is the cost of the RO jar; we measure safety in rupees, not milligrams. Each 20-litre can I buy is a subtraction from my daughter's books, a calculation more bitter than fluoride.
