Breathing is just the air going in and out, saar. Respiration is what happens inside, in the cells, to make energy. When you run hard and your muscles cramp, it’s often because that cellular respiration can’t keep up, and you get a lactic acid buildup. I learned this the hard way during my long runs on Unkal Lake road—my legs would scream, and my trainer explained it’s not about breathing less, but about the body’s machinery struggling to convert all that oxygen.
