From where I stand, they're all different chapters of the same push for more and more produce, yaar—first with wheat, then milk. The obvious answer is they fed millions, but my life says they also dried out our land and put small dairy folks out of business. I see it in the kids at Pine Grove Park; half of them have asthma from the dust and pollution I swear comes from that kind of farming. My own worry is that constant rattling in my car, a cheap fix that never holds... reminds me of these 'revolutions'—quick solutions that just make new, deeper problems.
