The ocean turning sour? It makes the water eat away at their shells, so the poor things struggle to build them. But the bigger truth is, the warming from that same CO₂ is what empties our seas first. For years now, my nets come up with more broken shells than whole ones, and the fish that should be there are gone—they’ve moved to find colder water. The acid bites the shell, but the heat bites the life.
