The strict swaps they tell you—like avoiding dal for protein, or skipping coconut—they make the food taste like a punishment. My own Nanaji tried that, and his morale sank faster than his sugar. I found small *jugaad* works better: temper your dal with lots of jeera and hing for digestion, use cauliflower *kanji* for a potato-like texture, and focus on *halka* masalas instead of just cutting salt. Because if the heart isn't in it, the body won't follow either.
