Here in our railway colony, when it’s a big Argentina match, even my regulars forget their extra-chutney arguments. I keep one small, crackly radio behind the counter, tuned to the Hindi commentary, and the sizzle of the tawa gets lost in the roar for a moment. Reminds me of my papa’s stories of the ’86 World Cup, when he’d serve dosas listening to the same static-filled magic.
