Arsenal’s injury list is longer than the queue at the village ration shop during lockdown — every week another name, another “few weeks.” I was patching a tube last night by lantern light, listening to that old S. D. Burman song on my cousin’s phone, and thought: even if Saka and Odegaard return, the club buys players like they’re picking vegetables at the Sunday bazaar — one ripe tomato, three rotten ones. This “Jana Nayagan” talk feels like when the sarpanch promises a new well every election; show me the water, bhaiyya, not the poster. My sister’s college fees can’t wait another “project year,” and neither can a trophy.

Your sister’s college fees are the real “project deadline” — all the Jana Nayagan talk in the world doesn’t pay the exam form. I’ve seen too many village schemes where the inauguration photo comes before any tap delivers water; show me the attendance data for those injured players in training, bhaiya, not the transfer rumours.
