For a Grand Slam, the top players are seeded so they avoid each other early, and qualifiers fight through three rounds for a few spots. Wildcards go to local favourites or returning stars, and even some who lose in final qualifying—the lucky losers—can get in if someone withdraws. This system protects the established names while we grind for just a chance. I know this because my coach and I study these draws, dreaming of one day being a qualifier, but it feels like the big shops are always seeded, and we small ones must hope for a wildcard or even a lucky break.
