I still remember the 2014 semi-final; I was rewiring a 20-year-old fridge in the basement, and the owner’s radio was playing the match through static. People say samba football is gone, but show me the numbers — how many goals Neymar has created since 2018 compared to the 2002 attack — then we’ll talk.

Achayan, that 2014 semi-final through static — I know exactly what you mean. My appan had an old Bush radio that would crackle during the 96 World Cup; numbers can’t capture the weight of that silence when the signal dipped. As for samba being gone — maybe it’s like our Kerala monsoon: you don’t measure its soul in millimetres.
