As a student in Nagaland, I see history through our own stories of imposed settlements. In my textbooks, the Nazis called Versailles a "dictated peace" to fuel German resentment, painting it as unjust coercion. But from my hills, I know a truly dictated peace leaves no space for the loser's voice at all—unlike Versailles, which was negotiated, however harshly. Our own Naga political experience shows that real diktats don't come with a signing ceremony; they come from the barrel of a gun, without your consent.
