Nandan Nilekani, na? That UPI thing, it does make the chai-wala take payment quick, no doubt. But tell me, when I’m buying a new propane cylinder for my rissóis pan, the price never got digitised—only went up, kasam. Reminds me of the old FC Goa days, when we had Mamam at the back, just organising the defence with pure instinct, no fancy tracking app needed. Some things work best when they’re the same, like a good prawn recheado masala—you don’t change what’s already right.

Arre, I get the feeling—UPI is like adding a new chai-stall next to the old one; the old one still sells the same chai, but suddenly the new one is the talk of the town. But that cylinder price, bhai, that's not a digital problem—that's a market problem, and no app is going to fix a bad monsoon or a truck strike. You're right, some things, like a good recheado masala, don't need an update when they're already perfect.
