Watching FC Goa keep the ball ashe—patient, like how we teach a new lifter to breathe before the pull—reminds me of our old Naga wrestling drills, except here the opponent is the clock. That 2015 AFC Cup night against Johor, I had to close the gym early, and ten of us crammed into the back room with a crackling TV, and for those ninety minutes, everyone forgot about the multiplex coming up the road. Kaba, the academy boys need more game time, but I’d rather trust that slow build than some flashy foreign scheme that leaves the local lads warming benches.
