Ah, the burst is when the monsoon winds first arrive with heavy rain, and the break is the dry spell in between. The ITCZ shifting north pulls the rain belt, creating both. But here in Chennai, our monsoon pattern mocks that textbook definition—we wait for the northeast monsoon much later, and the "burst" is often just a saano drizzle.
