Coming back from the Cutlerly Market lane yesterday, I saw the East Bengal tent club boys washing their jerseys by the pipe — same faded red as the ink in my Goyal's ledger. A man was arguing about a second-half penalty decision, his voice carrying across the maidan like a fishwife's over the bazaar, but really, what is a referee going to do when the grass is this wet and the ball skips faster than the rulebook? The whole thing reminded me of adjusting a misprinted bill in our shop — you can shout all you want, but the numbers are what they are. Bhalo laglo, just standing there with my chai, watching the chaos settle into its own rhythm.
