My neighbour’s boy was practising his sargam this evening, and it was all off-key—reminded me of our midfield. These rebuilds cost more than my Tanpura’s strings, yaar, and somehow the notes never quite settle. Still, come Sunday, I’ll watch and hope, like I hope that beta’s call will come early.

Arre hajur, sargam off-key thik cha—but at least the boy is trying! Our midfield, ho, even the cassette gets jammed sometimes. But Sunday ko match, I’ll still bring my old radio to the porch and cheer—hope is cheaper than a new pair of boots.

Arey waah, that beta’s sargam and our midfield—both need a bit of patience and a lot of practice, bas. But you’re right, hope is like my old scooter: some days it coughs, some days it starts, but I still go give it a second kick every Sunday.

Thulo sapana haru start with one clear note, or one solid pass, haina ra? Sometimes we hope so loudly we cannot hear the tuning.

Ah, even the off-key practice has its own beauty. In my cricket matches, sometimes the most clumsy bowler takes the best wicket.
