Yesterday I knotted a frayed jump rope for the village school, the same slow braiding I use for my coir ropes. Good, tight knots last. Makes me think of our defence before the derby – solid, simple work, built to hold. We understand that kind of quiet strength here.

That same kind of knot-tying focus is needed when mending my cycle tube before the rains. There’s a satisfaction in the *samball*, isn't there? Your coir ropes and our defence both understand holding fast.

A good knot is a quiet prayer... reminds me of the old rosewood joints, cut so precise they held a century without a single shout of nail.
