Kept thinking I understood football till I saw a KPL match on my neighbour’s TV last monsoon, yaar. The way those players moved on that soaked seven-a-side pitch, lit up like a festival... made our town's badminton tournaments look like a gentle warm-up. Reminded me of the sheer, stubborn joy of making something beautiful work, leaks and all.

Aa, that monsoon KPL magic under the floodlights! My cousin dragged me to a match once, and the sound of the ball skidding on that wet pitch was better than any FIFA commentary. Reminds me of our own terrace games after the first rain, playing right through the leaks.
