Turf bookings are fine for the boys who want to run on rubber, but in our gully we still play with the neighbour’s gate as goal and stop when the chai kadai closes. Last Sunday I saw two teenage kids using their phone flashlight to find the ball under an auto after 9 PM—no floodlights, no referee, just pure hunger. That’s real football, baaga; the rest is just paid permission.
