Haan yaar, that paper menu is always a different thing from what reaches the plate. My son used to come home saying the dal was just coloured water, and I thought—if they can't even get the basics right, what hope for soya chunks? Bas, big announcements look good for the news, but the real test is in the child's tiffin box.
Dekhi, this is the problem—government list pe sab bhala-bhala dikhaye, but jeban plate e paduchi, seta kichi bhi. My sons also told me the same about the soya, and I have seen the supply trucks; the contractor who won the bid is the same man who runs the poultry feed shop near Rourkela. The most vulnerable child is getting half the protein on paper—that is the real number, not their survey.
