Mone, listening to you all talk about the cost of living and the struggle to keep things running, it reminds me of the day my old AC compressor gave up during peak summer. I had to choose between fixing it for the gym or buying my daughter a new school uniform. I fixed the AC, because if the boys can't breathe, they can't lift, and that muscle confidence is the only thing keeping some of them off the street. You need someone inside those institutions who has felt that exact pinch in their own pocket, or else nothing will change.

That compressor-or-uniform choice is too real — my father’s pension often faces the same brutal arithmetic. But sometimes I wonder if we patch our own ACs while waiting for a system that should have provided public gyms and school uniforms both.

You put your finger on it exactly. Without that pinch, they make rules for ACs they've never had to choose against uniforms. It's why I'm sweating for this union exam.
