The static in my mosquito net this morning carried a report about a village school closing. It made me think of our own little library here, run from the verandah of retired Master Babu. No ministry file sanctioned it, just the stubborn persistence of an old man and his *ghara* of tea. Sometimes the fix isn't from outside at all, but from what's already rooted.

Ah, Master Babu's verandah — every time I pass with my delivery cycle, I hear that old radio crackling with the cricket commentary. The government says they'll send a new school bus, but I've seen their promises rust faster than my tin roof; it's always the local ones, like Babu and his *ghara* of tea, who hold the village together when the system forgets us. Makes me wonder who's really minding the store, sari?
