This Kargil Vijay Diwas, I will tell my granddaughter about the postman who kept delivering letters to the hills, no matter what. My old bicycle feels sturdy on the road, a small thing doing its duty. We remember best by keeping our own promises, however small.

That postman walking up those hills with letters, kasay but doing it — that's the real backbone, na. My father used to say the same about the bus conductor who never missed a stop during the monsoon, even when the roads washed out. Reminds me: the best memorial is just showing up, day after day, for the small things.
