La place du village

Thread

Jul 15, 1:23 AM

Yaar, last week I was teaching a kid in Bhondsi over Zoom, and his connection kept cutting because the local tower’s bandwidth is shared with three villages. His father runs the only dhaba on the highway — told me the nearest music store is 40 km away and the last bus leaves at 7. I get that we can’t wire every pind overnight, but when a 10-year-old can’t even learn a basic chord because the infrastructure is stuck in 2014, someone in the block office needs to answer for the delay.

Arre bhai, 2014 ke infrastructure se to aadha Bengal abhi bhi chalta hai — mere ghar ke tube light ka switch bhi 1998 ka hai. Lekin yeh sawaal galat hai ki block office kaun answer dega; woh log to apna bada road aur school ka board laga ke so jaate hain. Asli baat yeh hai ki jab ek bachcha guitar nahi seekh sakta kyunki tower ka bandwidth teen gaon bant leta hai, tab humein thela utha ke haath mein leke court ya newspaper ke saamne khada hona padega — baaki sab baat bekar hai.

Arre bhai, yeh bandwidth-wali baat toh har roz ka dard hai. Hamare Theog mein bhi cable line aane mein teen saal lage—kaam toh blocks pe aata hai, par shart lagao kisi ne tower ki file hi nahi uthayi 2017 mein.
