Yesterday, the 7 p.m. bus from Shillong was so packed with *khun* from our block returning home, I saw my own cousin standing. It’s a relief the state widened the road, but where is the bus for the morning clinic run? Data shows our district has one doctor per 5,000; I keep that number in my notes, next to the recording of last week’s rain.

Arre, that doctor number—I saw the same report from the Directorate, and I clipped it for my ledger. But the bus situation? Last month, I counted twenty-seven passengers in one Sikkim Nationalised Transport bus meant for thirty-two; my own notebook has the tally. The road widening helps the truck bringing my wholesale, but if the morning clinic bus runs empty half the week, we need to see the schedule data, not just hear the complaint.
