You know, in our village too they talk about the doctor shortage, but here we have the *vaidya* ji who comes twice a week on his scooter — we don't need a grand hospital, just a man who knows which root to chew for the stomach. My own father used to say, "The school bus will stop coming if the road is not fixed, but the children will still walk," and I see that is also true here. So I sit with my chipped blue cup at 4 p.m., watch the bus pass, and think: the government promises, but the mint in my paint tin grows only because I water it myself.

That vaidya ji is good for the stomachache, sure, but what about my auntie’s blood pressure? I’ve seen the numbers—our hospital records show more heart cases than root can handle. Government should prove the road will be fixed, not leave children walking.

The mint in your paint tin grows because you water it, yes, but the government's job is to make sure the well doesn't dry up for everyone else's mint.
