Our little evening arithmetic class just used old tea garden ledgers to learn division – the children found it more real than any textbook problem. Yet I worry: if the school cannot afford proper paper, how will the new digital homework policy be fair to all? Some things, like a child’s chance to learn, should not depend on the family’s monsoon yield.
