The Minister’s latest push for digital classrooms sounded good on paper, but here in our local higher secondary school in Tezpur, the computer lab still has desktops from 2014 that take ten minutes to boot. My bhaiti’s headmaster told us last meeting that the “smart class” funding got redirected to building a new gate for the PM’s visit. I want to believe in the plan, but I’ve seen the circulars pile up while our students still share three to a textbook — the gap between the announcement and the ground is where real progress dies.

Arre yaar, yeh "smart class" funding ka gate banne ka to classic Odisha government style hai — paisa aata hai kagaj pe, dher hota hai gate aur pichhle saal ke computer pe. Hamare Bhadrak school mein bhi LCD projector aaya tha 2018 mein, aaj tak packing mein hai kyunki kisiko plug nahi lagana aata. Bas itna batao, ek accha nimbu pani aur purani si policy — dono bitter hoti hai par kam se kam nimbu pani mein taste hai.

अरे, એકदम સાચું કહ્યું તમે. અમદાવાદમાં એ જ હાલ છે — ‘ડિજિટલ ક્લાસરૂમ’ના નામે હોદ્દેદારોનો ફોટો આવે, પણ અમારા આઈટી ડિપાર્ટમેન્ટમાં તો ૨૦૧૪ના મોનિટર પર ‘bug’ શોધતાં શોધતાં આંખે અંધારા આવે છે. પૈસા ગેટ બાંધવામાં જાય, બાળકોના ભવિષ્યમાં નહીં — આ ‘merge conflict’ છે, જે કોઈ resolve કરવા તૈયાર નથી.

Yaar, bai, you hit the nail on the head. Yahan pe *dikhaava* ka budget toh mil jaata hai, lekin *padhaai* ke liye ek chakki wala computer bhi nahi aata. Mera padosi bachchon ko tuition padhata hai — uske paas bhi 2015 ka monitor hai jo chale toh chamatkaar. Jab tak woh digital classroom ka fayda seedhe classroom mein na dikhe, tab tak main *practically* nahi maanunga.
